The Village Clerk-Treasurer’s office is here to serve the residents of the Village of Evans Mills. We help keep the Village running smoothly by maintaining records, handling finances, and assisting residents with everyday needs such as taxes, permits, water/sewer and local information.
We work closely with the Mayor, Village Board, and other departments to ensure operations are efficient, transparent, and accessible to the community. Whether you need help with a payment, have a question about Village services, or are looking for information, the Clerk-Treasurer’s office is your first stop.
Please note: The Village Office does not provide notary services.
Water & Sewer
The Village Clerk-Treasurer’s Office is responsible for all water and sewer billing in the Village of Evans Mills.

Bills are issued quarterly to all residents and property owners connected to the Village water and sewer systems.

Payments can be made in person, online, by mail, or by phone with debit/credit card.

Unpaid balances may be subject to late fees and can be re-levied onto Village property taxes if not paid in full.

Village Property Tax Collection
The Village Clerk-Treasurer, acting as Receiver of Taxes, collects Village taxes only. Tax bills are mailed out by Jefferson County at the end of May. Property owners have until June 30, 2026 to pay without penalty. If you do not receive your tax bill by June 1st, please contact the Village Office.
2026 Tax Payment Period:
Payments can be made in the Village Office or over the phone using debit/credit card (processing fees apply)

Village Taxes for the 2026-2027 tax year will be collected from June 1, 2026 through June 30, 2026.
Taxes may be paid in person at the Village Office during normal business hours or by using the Village drop box located outside the office.
Payments must be received by June 30, 2026 to avoid penalties and additional interest. Please make checks payable to the Village and include your tax bill stub with payment.

Please include your tax payment stub with all payments.

Mailed payments must be postmarked by the U.S. Postal Service on or before June 30th to avoid penalties.
⚠️ Property taxes cannot be paid online through the Village website at this time.

Freedom of Information Law (FOIL)

Exemptions
Certain records are exempt from disclosure under State Law. The Records Access Officer may deny a request, in whole or in part, if it falls under these exemptions. See Article 6, Section 87(2) of the Public Officers Law for more information.
